With the elapse of time, the wound was healed. However, when the old man
lifted his hand to his bald head, he found the scar of that wound and felt
as if all this happened only the day before. And he wondered how come that
ninety years elapsed as if they were but a few short days. And he realized
that all the pleasures he had in this life were too transient to be felt. At
that point he remembered one of the dignified Prophet’s Hadith that says: "
On judgement Day, he who enjoyed the pleasures of this life best is
chosen out of those doomed to Hellfire and is dipped into Hellfire once.
Then, he is to be asked, You man, (do you think that) you have ever seen any
goodness in your life?.. Have you ever tasted any pleasure before ?.. The
man answers: I swear by Allah I haven’t… Then, the most miserable man of
those to enter Heavens is taken out and dipped in Heavens once. Then, he is
to be asked, Have you ever suffered any misery? Have you ever seen any
calamities?.. He answers: I swear by Allah I haven’t. I have never faced
any misery or calamities ".
In this age, in which materialism eclipsed spirituality, those Muslims who
seek happiness and safety in the Hereafter should follow in the school of
the holy Prophet, Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon Him. They should not
be slaves for the pleasures of this life. They should rather seek the
richness of their souls. For those rich within always enjoy peace of mind
and tranquility. Moreover, they never ask for what they can dispense with
nor are they keen to accumulate money. The poor and needy are not those
short of money. The poor are those
who have
idles
of money, but run after
the glittering crusts
and pleasures of this
