which pours satisfaction into our hearts however meager it is that we have.
The Prophet, Peace and Blessing be upon him, says: " Richness lies
not in abundance of wealth, money or possessions. It rather lies in the
contentment of souls "…The Prophet also says: " Look at
those beneath you and not at those above you (in rank) so as not to belittle
Allah’s blessings on you… " The Prophet’s words: "Richness
lies not in abundance of wealth, money or possessions"… are most
truthful in these days. For now a lot of people own palaces and wealth and
lead a very luxurious life. However, they lead a miserable life and suffer
from depression and frustration. Some of them even put an end to their life
and commit suicide, Allah forbid.
Nowadays, people are jostling for the pleasures of the world life as
butterflies hover around fire just to get burnt. Many are those who collect
money through legal and illegal means. Yet this money adds to their misery
both in this life and in the Hereafter. Those are gasping in their pursuit
of a mirage and fake glitter. Thus, they come back empty-handed and all they
get of this pursuit is psychological ailments and dissatisfaction with
everything in this life. And in the course of this pursuit, they just forget
all about the other life; the everlasting one. On seeing any of the
pleasures of this life or its attractions, the Prophet used to say: "
By Allah, there is no living but in the Hereafter". In this regard,
Allah Almighty says:
[
Nay, you prefer the life of this world, * Although the Hereafter is better
and more lasting.]( Al-Ala:16-17)
